Therapeutic Values

  • As a postmodern and collaborative therapist, I believe that the clients are the experts of their own lives. You have the autonomy and the capability to explore the multitudes of your identities, decide your preferred ways of being, and make changes in the ways that you see fit with your life. I contextualize myself as a catalyst, a sounding board, and a witness to your journey and transformation as you facilitate your direction and change on your own terms.

  • We are social beings, and most of us do not do well living in isolated states. We all have relationships not only with others (like friends, family, neighbors, co-workers) but also ourselves and other aspects of our lives (like different cultures, dreams, food, worries, and so much more). As a relational therapist, I approach all matters in relationship to my clients.

  • Having worked extensively with populations that have experienced abuse and trauma, I understand the emotional turbulence and the ripples that an event, or series of events, could have on our lives. It is important in my practice to explore these matters at the pace that you feel comfortable: whether that means exploring it all at once, very slowly, or not at all.

  • I am enthused about supporting families with LGBTQIA+ family members as a member of the community. This can include LGBTQIA+ couples and non monogamous groups, as well as families with LGBTQIA+ youth and their parents. I am familiar with the challenges marginalized families may face and how daunting life transitions can be without guidance. First time parents are a specialty of mine and I can resonate deeply with parents of young children. I am interested in navigating different phases of pregnancy and parenthood, as well as a potential journey as an LGBTQIA+ parent.

  • As the world often centers neurotypical and able-bodied persons, I find it important in my therapeutic practice to be able to actively include disability and neurodiversity into the conversation. I am familiar with working with persons who struggle with disability, chronic pain conditions, and are not neurotypical. By bringing these facets of our humanness into the conversation, therapy can be tailored to each individual. I encourage clients to advocate for accommodations as needed.
